# Scorpion Alert

> Scorpion Alert is a smart scorpion detection and alerting system for homeowners in the American Southwest. UV-lit detectors watch for scorpions at night and push alerts to your phone the moment one's spotted.

## Product

Scorpion Alert combines plug-in UV-lit hardware detectors, a mobile app (iOS and Android), and a monitoring service. Detectors run at night and use ultraviolet light to reveal scorpions — which fluoresce under UV — while an on-device model classifies what it sees. Confirmed sightings are pushed to the subscriber's phone as an instant alert with a photo, typically within seconds of detection.

Service area: currently Arizona, Nevada (US). Expanding to additional Southwest states over time.

## Pricing

Scorpion Detectors are $50 each (or $200 for a 5-pack — buy 4, get 1 free). Monitoring is $5/month or $50/year, flat regardless of how many Detectors you add.

Alternatively, via /start, Detectors can be provided free as part of an active monitoring subscription (rental model) — subscribers return the hardware if they cancel.

- Photo verification: every alert includes a photo so subscribers can confirm the sighting before responding.
- Entry-point identification: repeated alerts at the same Detector reveal where scorpions are getting in, so remediation targets the right wall or threshold.
- Works while subscribers sleep: the highest-risk hours for scorpion activity are also when most households aren't actively watching for them.
- AI-classified detection: the on-device model rejects non-scorpion UV reflections (cleaning products, some plastics, paper) to reduce false alerts.
